Our client, a large publicly traded Telecom company, is seeking a Revenue Recognition Analyst for their corporate team.  This individual will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the  Revenue Recognition methodology using the internal systems, Business Intelligence, Cognos and other tools as necessary. The contributions made by this role will be to Maximize profitability and ensuring that revenue is recognized properly and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SOX compliance.


This position is involved in critical month end responsibilities. As part of the process, the Revenue Recognition Analyst will support and maintain all the processes necessary for the calculation of the company’s revenue and deferred revenue on a monthly basis. The incumbent in the role will review and analyze revenue general ledger accounts. This position is also responsible for ensuring the completeness and data integrity of the revenue recognition platform by performing auditing and analytical functions related to the revenue recognition process.




  • Monitoring and enhancing company's Revenue Recognition methodologies using company owned or licensed technologies and Business Intelligence data warehouse for financial reporting and strategic analysis.
  • Monitoring and Enhancing Revenue Recognition methodologies using Carrier and other 3rd Party systems for financial reporting and strategic analysis.
  • Identify and monitor trends in revenue, usage, and handset balances.
  • Identify and monitor trends in customer offerings.
  • Develop quality control tools.
  • Calculate entries classifying redemptions into appropriate accounts.
  • Calculate entries classifying redemptions into appropriate plan accounts.
  • Calculate retailer specific revenue adjustments.
  • Creating and running queries to obtain required data.
  • Calculate Retailer Margin by brand.
  • Identify and implement deferred revenue rules, parameters and related variables.
  • Monitor Sold Not Redeemed reports and balances for trends and changes that impact Revenue and Deferred Revenue.
  • Automate existing model(s) where possible.
  • Monitoring of revenue recognition assumptions and estimates being made to determine financial impact of revisions or changes in revenue trends.
  • Deferred Revenue Forecasting Models.
  • Calculate value of Sold Not Redeemed and other unused reserves.
  • Revenue per unit calculations by brand.
  • Create and Maintain deferral schedules for Loyalty and Upgrade plans.
  • Maintain GAAP and SOX Compliance.


Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or other finance related background is required. CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Over 5 years of financial analysis and/or accounting work.
  • Advanced computer and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Access.
  • Ability to write SQL queries for Oracle or DB2 for reporting or performing analysis preferred.
  • Ability to create and maintain complex mathematical models and concepts.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple deliverables in a fast paced environment.
